We all have an electromagnetic field: humans, animals, and even fish – learn more about it from the perspective of energetics in business.
The Third Lattice: The Electromagnetic Field Between Two People
Have you ever walked into a room and immediately sensed tension – the electromagnetic field – without anyone saying a word?
Or met someone for the first time and felt completely at ease?
Many of us have experienced these moments, even if we struggle to explain them. From a New World Energetics perspective, they remind us that communication happens on many levels—not only through words, but through the quality of the electromagnetic field we each carry.
One concept that has shaped my understanding over many years is an energetic concept known as the Third Lattice.

Our Personal Electromagnetic Field
As an EMF Balancing Technique® Practitioner, I was introduced to the idea that every person is surrounded by an electromagnetic field—a living energetic structure that extends beyond the physical body.
Within this model, the field has a centre approximately 24 inches above the head and another around 24 inches below the feet. Energy flows through the chakras in multiple directions, weaving through vertical fibres and interconnected figure-eight loops.
One of the illustrations used during the training shows these figure-eight patterns extending from each chakra and connecting throughout the field. While simplified for teaching purposes, it offers a useful visual representation of how our energy may be organised.
The model describes this lattice as a framework for the arrangement of consciousness. Thoughts, emotions, intentions and awareness are continually moving within it, creating an ever-changing energetic landscape.
During client sessions, my own perception of the field has often appeared denser and more complex than the illustrations suggest, reminding me that diagrams can only hint at the richness of our energetic nature.
More Than a Personal Field
If every person has an electromagnetic field, then every interaction becomes an energetic exchange.
This doesn’t only apply to people. Animals also generate measurable electromagnetic fields, and many species rely on them for survival. Sharks, for example, detect tiny electrical signals produced by other marine life, demonstrating that living systems communicate in ways beyond our everyday senses.
Most of us have also experienced moments that seem difficult to explain:
- sensing someone watching us before we turn around
- feeling goosebumps during an inspiring piece of music
- becoming energised during yoga or meditation
- feeling mentally scattered after hours in front of a computer
- leaving a meeting feeling unexpectedly uplifted—or completely drained.
Whether we describe these experiences in scientific, psychological or energetic terms, they remind us that we constantly respond to our environment.
Why Your Electromagnetic Field Matters
You don’t have to think about your electromagnetic field; many people never do.
However, becoming aware of your own energetic state can change the way you experience life.
Within New World Energetics, the aim isn’t to become dependent on energy work. Instead, it’s to develop greater awareness of how we influence our own field through our thoughts, emotions, beliefs and daily choices.
As an EMF Balancing Technique® Practitioner, one of my roles has been to help clients strengthen and balance their personal field so they can more comfortably embody their own energy.
Many people describe feeling calmer, clearer, and more focused afterwards.
Interestingly, I often notice similar benefits for myself after facilitating a session.
The Third Lattice
The concept that fascinated me most during my training was the Third Lattice.
Whenever two people form a relationship—whether as partners, friends, family members, colleagues or business associates—a shared energetic field begins to emerge.
It belongs to neither individual.
Instead, it belongs to the relationship itself.
This Third Lattice continually changes as both people grow, communicate and evolve.
The same principle can apply beyond human relationships. We develop energetic relationships with our work, our homes, our businesses, our creative projects and even our own self-image.
Each of these connections forms its own unique energetic pattern.
From the perspective of New World Energetics, every relationship is continually co-created.
A Business Has an Electromagnetic Field and Third Lattice, Too

This idea extends naturally into business.
Every client relationship creates a Third Lattice, and every leadership team develops one.
Each organisation has its own collective electromagnetic field that influences communication, trust, creativity and decision-making.
When individuals become more coherent within themselves, the shared field often becomes clearer and more productive.
This is one reason I believe successful businesses are built on far more than strategy alone.
The Space Between Our Electromagnetic Fields
Several years ago I watched Oprah interview Pastor Rob Bell and his wife Kristen about their book, The Zimzum of Love.
Their discussion immediately reminded me of the Third Lattice.
Drawing from the Jewish mystical concept of Tzimtzum (often written Zimzum), they described how healthy relationships require the creation of space—space for each person to remain fully themselves while allowing something new to emerge between them.
One comment particularly stayed with me:
“When you’re married you create space, and it has an energy to it.”
Another was:
“The space between you has energy. What you bring has an impact.”
Although they approached the subject from theology rather than energy work, I found remarkable parallels with the Third Lattice concept.
Both perspectives recognise that relationships are not simply about two individuals.
They are also about the quality of the space that exists between them.
Caring For the Space Between
Whether we call it the Third Lattice, the shared electromagnetic field or the space between, the principle remains the same.
Every interaction contributes something.
We bring: –
- our own personal history
- each of our intentions
- beliefs we hold
- our emotional states
- and our presence.
As we become more aware of our own electromagnetic field, we naturally contribute greater coherence to the relationships we value most—whether with family, clients, colleagues, or ourselves.
Perhaps the greatest invitation isn’t to understand the field intellectually, but to notice it.
How does the space between you and the important people in your life feel today?
